BIBLICAL TRUTHS ABOUT ANGELS

IN CONCLUSION

According to Daniel 12:1, Michael is also the protector of Israel. Gabriel is mentioned as a messenger of God and is first mentioned in Daniel 8:16 where he is sent to explain the vision to Daniel. Gabriel brought the virgin Mary the news that she would be the mother of Jesus. Gabriel stands in the presence of God (Luke 1:19). Some Bible scholars believe it’s Gabriel spoken of in Daniel 10:5-6. However, the bible doesn’t reveal a specific name to this messenger.

He is describe as “a man dressed in linen with a gold belt around his waist, his body was like topaz and his face like lightning and his eyes like flaming torches. His arms and legs were like burnished bronze and his voice sounded like many multitudes.” Whenever a heavenly messenger appears to humans the manifestation is the form of a man. There is no scripture to support that angels are ever referred to or appear as women. Though they appear as men, they are not.

They are spiritual beings. Hebrews 1:7 says,“In speaking of the angels he says, He makes his angels spirits and his servants flames of fire”. In Hebrews 1:14 they are called ministering spirits sent to serve those who inherit salvation. A popular non-Biblical belief is the notion of “guardian angels”. There are references to angels watching over us, such as Psalms 91:11-12 Matthew 18:10. There is no reference in the Bible that each person has a “personal” guardian angel.

Heavenly beings do not have human relationships. In Matthew 22:30 and Luke 20:34-36, Jesus makes in clear that spiritual beings do not marry as men and women do.

We will NOT become angels but have similar immortal and eternal characteristics. Another non-Biblical belief involves people dying and becoming angels. When a loved one dies you might hear someone say he or she has now become an angel and gotten his or her wings. Again, there’s No precept, principle or promise in scripture reconciling that belief.

This myth may have been popularized by the movie “A wonderful life.” In truth, heavenly beings will become subject to those whose names are written in the LAMBS BOOK OF LIFE, according to 1 Corinthians 6:2-4. Many books are written focused on angels and even their worship. This is of course idoltry and blasphemy. In Revelation 19:9-10 John is sternly rebuked concerning angel worship. Oh by the way, the practice of praying to angels is also sinful.

Only ALMIGHTY GOD knows the number of HIS heavenly creation. In Revelation 5, John tried as best his finite understanding could conprehend the number of voices he heard. The heavenly host are concerned for the eternal welfare of man. When a sinner repents and accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior angels in heaven rejoice, Luke 15:10. There are also times when we show hospitality to angels and do not know it, according to Hebrew 13:2.

We have explored several truths about angels and found that they are spirits, they continually worship. praise and serve God. They are obedient and very powerful. Not all angels have wings. They are created beings, as well as servants of God just like we who believe in Jesus. We who are believers need to follow the examples set by angels by being good servants who are obedient to God and worshiping and glorifying Him alone. Amen
