growing in our daily walk with Christ
When Christ Jesus came into the world to “seek and save that which was lost” HIS number ONE enemy was the three main religious organizations. The Pharisees, Sadducees and Scribes were determined to destroy the LORD and HIS teaching. The Pharisees added a large quantity of man made customs called “the tradition of the elders” and passed this on from generation to generation. These human concepts came to be accepted as equal to the Word of ALMIGHTY GOD!
The false teaching of the Sadducees was the opposite of the Pharisees. They subtracted whole segments from scripture proclaiming only the law of Moses as being worthy of recognition. No wonder when the SON of GOD came into the world HIS authority was zealously challenged and opposed. Jesus was a threat to the religious, economic and social authority of both parties. Even though the Pharisees and Sadducees didn’t like each other they had no problem working together to destroy the ONE exposing their false teaching and hypocrisy. Mark 11:27-33
Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem and said, “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat.” He answered them, “And why do you break the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? – Matthew 15
Contemporary “Christianity” has followed centuries of man made traditions striving to making them equal with the WORD of ALMIGHTY GOD. This false teaching has followed in lock step with the error of the Pharisees and Sadducees. The “church” like the Pharisees has added a ton of rituals, customs, programs and traditions of men the LORD never commanded or approved either by precept, principle or promise.
What are some of the reasons it’s important to understand and expose post-biblical church practices;
1) Understand true worship acceptable to The LORD
2) Expose Spritual error
3) Rightly or Correctly interpret the WORD of GOD
4) Share a clear presentation of the gospel of CHRIST JESUS
WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND THE ORIGIN OF “CHURCH” PRACTICES
PHARISEES – The official interpreters of GODS’ Word and were empowered to create tradition for Jews to live by.
SADDUCEES – a Jewish sect that denied the resurrection of the dead, the existence of spirits, the soul, afterlife and the obligation of oral tradition, emphasizing acceptance of the written Law alone.
SCRIBES – The writers and printers of the law or Torah
