BIBLE TRUTH VERSUS RELIGIOUS TRADITION
One of the biggest problems facing the BODY of CHRIST is discerning and separating The LORDS TRUTH versus the religious traditions and doctrines of men. Religious error is certainly not new. Beginning in Genesis 3 in the GARDEN of EDEN, satan asked EVE this question. “Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden?”
EVE’S response was the beginning of the same mistake so many believers make. What is that mistake? Taking the WORD of GOD out of context or speaking it erroneously! Here’s what she said, “You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die.”
The LORD never told EVE not to “touch” it. Whenever we add, change or delete the LORDS WORD we give satan a weapon to use against us. Eve opened herself and Adam up for the cunning of satan. “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”, was satan’s reply.
Then Adam and Eve fell into the trap. “So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths.”
Compromising the truth of the WORD of GOD led to being wise in their eyes. This in turn led to disobedience resulting in sin against ALMIGHTY GOD. Adam and Eve fullfilled the requirement for sin revealed in 1 John 2:16 which says, “For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world.” Thus it was in the beginning, so it remains today.
In the Garden of Eden The LORD gave man a choice, Live For Truth – The Tree Of Truth or Live For A Lie – The Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Which will you choose?
